This Californian bungalow home was completely renovated with new weatherboards, insulation and low VOC finishes, while an energy efficient passive solar extension was added at the rear. The floors are 'envirocrete' polished concrete, winter sun from clerestory windows soaks into the thermal mass of an internal recycled brick wall while double glazing keeps in the warmth. Eaves, sliding screens and retractable roof help to keep out the summer sun.
